THE DELTA SERIES - May/June 2013
As the second largest catchment in Australia and the largest river catchment flowing into the Great Barrier Reef, the Fitzroy River is of huge ecological, economical and social significance. In early 2013 BushTV's Tom Hearn announced an exhibition of his photography to to tie in to the upcoming Delta Festival celebrations to be held on the Capricorn Coast. Renton was honoured to receive an invitation to exhibit works alongside Tom Hearn's photographs and artist Jet James' paintings. These are a selection of the works from his 'Delta Series'.

'Estuarine Eden', 2013
Crackle Glazed Stoneware Plate 50cm x 3cm Inspiration for 'Esturine Eden was drawn from my passion and concern for the environment, specifically the current environmental issues in my local area with the coal port proposals that put at risk the pristine environment of the Fitzroy River Delta.
In this work I have used glaze layering to exemplify the beauty of the Delta. The design layout was inspired by a photograph I took while flying over the vast wilderness area in a light plane. |
